The state of Utah is rich in oil and natural gas and was ranked 11th in the country in crude oil production and 13th in natural gas gross production during 2016 (Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration). There are approximately 11,700 producing oil and gas wells statewide.

The program’s mission is to promote the exploration, development and conservation of oil and natural gas resources in Utah while creating energy-related jobs, boosting local economies and generating oil and gas tax revenues. The demand for reliable and affordable energy is essential for the well-being of our state.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC (6/6/2022) -

NOTICE TO WELL OPERATORS (4/29/2019) -
ANNUAL FLUID INJECTION REPORT AND FLUID ANALYSIS FOR 2018 WERE DUE BY MARCH 1, 2019
  New
Rule R649-8-21 requires that all operators of disposal wells, storage wells, or enhanced recovery projects file UIC Form 4, Annual Fluid Injection Report , within 60 days following the end of the year. Rule R649-5-5 requires that the fluids injected into each disposal well or project be sampled and analyzed no less frequently than once a year and a copy of the analysis be submitted with UIC Form 4. The report and analysis for 2018 are due by March 1. Failure to submit these by the deadline will result in a Notice of Violation. Click here to learn more.
